Why?

Les Journées Photoniques de Light Painting is a week long event led by the French Light painting League which includes, artist residency, workshops, onstage battles, a giant interactive light painting, conferences and exhibits. The town's cultural center of Villeneuve d’Ascq sponsors the event right outside Lille in Northen France.

We did several takes as seen below.
Pratice take before public.

 
For the first shot they stayed in place and just made small gestures with their lights.

For the second shot, two groups filled in columns of light on either side of the square before spreading out to sign their names on the ground.

The third time they added silhouettes and other figures to their delight.
